BACKGROUND
In 2017, two of the biggest names in event management technology—Cvent and Lanyon—came together under Vista Equity Partners, reshaping the industry and setting a new standard for innovation.
This wasn’t just about combining two companies—it was about creating the ultimate all-in-one event technology solution. By merging, Cvent and Lanyon could:
✔️ Offer a more powerful toolkit – A seamless platform covering event management, venue sourcing, strategic meetings, and onsite needs.
✔️ Simplify event planning – Helping organisers manage everything in one place, from start to finish.
✔️ Drive innovation – Bringing together the best of both platforms to enhance features and functionality.
The news was mostly well-received, with industry professionals welcoming the expanded capabilities and the promise of enhanced technology. However, as with any major merger, there were concerns:
🔹 Less competition? – Some worried that fewer players in the market could drive up prices.
🔹 What would change? – Customers were eager to see how the integration would unfold.
The Cvent-Lanyon merger wasn’t just a business move—it reshaped the event tech landscape. By bringing together two industry leaders, the deal:
✅ Accelerated innovation, giving planners access to more advanced tools.
✅ Created efficiencies, making event planning smoother and more intuitive.
✅ Strengthened market leadership, reinforcing Cvent as the dominant force in event technology.
This merger wasn’t just about consolidation—it was about redefining what’s possible in event management technology. A bold move that transformed the industry and set new standards for the future.

WHAT I DID!
Leading Cvent’s non-North American operations was more than just overseeing international offices—it was about uniting global teams, scaling operations, and driving market-specific growth. Managing key regions including the UK, Singapore, Australia, and Germany, I played a pivotal role in ensuring Cvent’s event technology solutions resonated across diverse markets.
With 1,700+ employees across multiple time zones, communication and cohesion were essential. I spearheaded initiatives to bring together direct staff and outsourced teams, creating a collaborative, aligned, and high-performing global operation.
The merger with Lanyon was a defining moment in my tenure. Leading through such a major transition meant:
✔️ Managing employee uncertainty – Ensuring smooth integration and strong internal engagement.
✔️ Driving operational efficiency – Implementing frameworks across sales, marketing, and professional services.
✔️ Accelerating innovation – Reducing onboarding time by 45% and tripling speed-to-market for new solutions.
Scaling a global business requires more than just replication—it needs local insight and adaptability. I ensured that:
🌍 Cvent’s solutions were tailored for local markets – Adjusting event solutions for UK & German clients to better meet regional needs.
📈 Regional teams had the autonomy to innovate – Empowering them to refine offerings while maintaining global standards.
🤝 Customer satisfaction and market penetration soared – By balancing consistency with flexibility, we strengthened client relationships worldwide.
